  • Join the more than 16,000 proud members of Paralyzed Veterans of America!  As a member, you’ll become part of a family of men and women united to improve the world for veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders and all people with disabilities.  PVA doesn’t charge fees or dues – membership is entirely free!  Minnesota supports a membership of over 330 veterans by providing various sports and recreation opportunities, ADA resources, education, and much more!

  • MEMBERSHIP IS ALWAYS FREE!

    For veterans meeting all the criteria below, we invite you to join Minnesota Paralyzed Veterans of America (MNPVA)

    • Have a spinal cord injury or spinal cord disease(SCI/D)

    • Citizens of the United States or its territories

    • Is a veteran of the US Armed Forces whose discharge was other than dishonorable

    RELATED DISEASES INCLUDE:

    • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

    • Multiple sclerosis (MS) – anytime upon or after diagnosis

    • Cauda equina syndrome

    • Poliomyelitis

    • Spina bifida

    • Spinal cord tumor

    • Severe spinal stenosis (causing neurological impairment)

    • Syringomyelia

    • Transverse myelitis

    We welcome Veterans with service-connected and non-service-connected disabilities.  If your condition is not listed here, please contact us to determine eligibility or email office@pva.org.

    Don’t qualify for membership but still want to be involved with our mission?  Please join as an Associate Member/Volunteer.

  • BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

    PVA membership includes many national services as well as chapter programs designed to help enhance your life.  These benefits include assistance with your earned VA benefits; help with employment and higher education; sports and recreation opportunities; and a window into our important research and advocacy efforts.

    MINNESOTA BENEFITS

    • A team of ADA and advocacy experts to help you navigate the disability world

    • Office in the Minneapolis VAMC SCI-D Center – stop in for a snack, resources, and a good conversation.

    • Financial Assistance for qualified applicants of sports and recreation events and programs

    • Potential assistance through our Prosthetic & Relief Fund

    • Free participation in MNPVA-sponsored sports/rec events

    • Four membership meetings per year (Fall Annual Meeting, Holiday Luncheon, Spring Luncheon, Summer Picnic)

    • MNPVA newsletter, The North Star Bullet (published roughly nine times per year)

    • Free MNPVA Sports Bag

    PVA MEMBERS ALSO RECEIVE:

    • Membership to one of our 33 chapters, so you can meet fellow members and participate in local social and sporting events.

    • A monthly e-newsletter with updates on PVA’s programs and services, our advocacy efforts, upcoming events, member stories, and more.

    • Complimentary print and digital subscriptions to PN Magazine, an invaluable resource for people with SCI/D, their family members, and caregivers.

    • A complimentary online subscription to Sports & Spikes, a resource on sports and recreation for people living with SCI/D and amputations.

    • Help with higher education through our college scholarships. 

    • Access to a Facebook Group just for PVA members. PVA women members also receive access to a Facebook group specifically created for them, PVA Women Empowered. 

  • A membership application is available on our Membership Resources page, or don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will mail you a membership application form.  For veterans who don’t reside in our area, please visit our National PVA website to find your local chapter.

  • Please get in touch with us to update your membership information.  You may call us at 612-467-2263 or use the Contact Us button to send a message. By keeping us informed about address, phone, and email changes, you can be sure we’ll be able to get important information to you promptly.

  • If you move, Membership in PVA can be transferred to any of our 33 chapters free of charge. A transfer form can be founding on our Membership Forms page.
